As a group, one of our aims is to tackle the issue of Period Poverty within the Larne Area. The #EqualityPERIOD project relies solely on goodwill gestures from the public in the form of pledges to our crowdfunder and item donations of sanitary & period products (listed below). Please, if you can, throw an extra pack of pads in with your weekly shop, pledge the price of a takeaway coffee to our crowdfunder, or just share our #EqualityPERIOD posts across social media. ❤️ No one should have to resort to using newspapers, cotton wool, socks, toilet roll, makeup pads, torn up nappies, old rags or plastic bags during their period. With your support we can ensure that no longer happens here in Larne. You can find the crowdfunding link here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/equalityPERIOD www.equalityperiod.co.uk Items needed : ❤️ Sanitary towels of various sizes. ❤️ Maternity pads. ❤️ Panty Liners. ❤️ Tampons of various sizes. ❤️ Reusable Options - Menstrual Cups & Cloth pads. ❤️ Disposal bags. ❤️ Hand sanitizer. ❤️ Wipes. ❤️ Hot Water Bottles & Heat Packs. You may have heard about the campaign in the Larne Times or on CoolFM , CoolFM News & Sports or Downtown radio throughout the news bulletins on 16/08/2020. www.larnetimes.co.uk/news/people/larne-group-urgently-seeking-support-period-poverty-campaign-2939257 www.facebook.com/EqualityPeriod-1103530707081658/

A few months ago the group was approached by Extern to help share some information about Extern's new 'Community Health and Wellbeing Champion,' campaign, some invaluable training to be provided to individuals within local groups and services within the area in the hopes to prevent better health and wellbeing within our communities. Fast forward to recent weeks where the admin team (now community health champions collectively) were able to train with them as Mental Health First aiders over the past weekend. This two day course has given ten local individuals the tools to aid others to seek support for their mental health and that of others. Thank you Extern for the opportunity!
